One guided setup for domains, live chat, teammates, and the first conversation

A shared four-step checklist, contextual prompts, live progress, and one structured settings page make the path to a working inbox much easier.

Creating the workspace is only the beginning. A useful live-chat product still needs a website domain, a widget that fits the brand, a team that can answer, and one real test conversation. The new Get started experience puts those outcomes into one short checklist.

The four outcomes of a ready workspace

The four steps are Connect your website, Personalize your live chat, Invite a teammate, and Receive your first conversation. Progress is derived from real workspace data rather than a dismissible tutorial: saving a domain, changing the widget, adding a teammate, or receiving a conversation completes the relevant step automatically.

The checklist is available from the dashboard logo and the Get started item above Settings. Both progress rings read from the same shared state, so the count stays consistent across the full onboarding page, the navigation rail, and contextual prompts.

How the checklist reads real product state

When the first domain has not been connected, Inbox and Contacts show a compact dark setup card near the bottom-left corner. It can expand into the full accordion, keeps the first unfinished item open, and only navigates after the user chooses the action inside that item. The card moves out of the way while the navigation rail expands and disappears immediately after the domain is saved.

Settings is now one structured workspace instead of a collection of disconnected screens. A persistent section navigation moves between General, Live chat and installation, Saved replies, and Team. The active section follows the scroll position, while links from onboarding open the exact section the user needs.

Settings and contextual next actions

Live-chat setup keeps customization and installation together. Teams can change color, position, greeting, avatar, and language; manage the domain allowlist; copy the installation snippet; and see progress update without reloading the dashboard.

The goal is not to add another tutorial layer. It is to make product state visible and give every incomplete task a direct next action. A new workspace can now move from empty to ready without guessing which settings page matters first.

Complete setup in the shortest useful order

Connect the domain first because it unlocks a real widget test. Then adjust greeting, color, position, and language, invite a teammate, and run a conversation in a private window. This order quickly exposes an allowlist mismatch, incorrect site ID, or installation issue.

Do not complete the checklist only to fill the progress ring. Every item should prove a working outcome: the domain is saved, widget configuration changed, a teammate has access, and the first request genuinely reached the inbox. That makes onboarding a system check instead of a list of dismissed tips.

Frequently asked question

Must the checklist steps be completed in a fixed order?

No. Available steps can be reopened and completed when convenient. Connecting the domain early is still useful because the team cannot fully test the widget or receive a first conversation without it.
